In this case study, we explore the collaboration between Kadabra IT and the Health District of Northern Larimer County to create an advanced Drupal-based healthcare portal.

The project aimed to deliver a compliant, high-performance, and user-friendly website, facilitating seamless connections between patients and healthcare providers based on various criteria such as insurance coverage and health requirements.

The Health District of Northern Larimer County, a public agency serving local healthcare needs since 1960, manages comprehensive services including dental, behavioral, and preventive health services.

They required a robust platform to connect residents with healthcare providers based on insurance coverage, health needs, and other criteria. However, several significant challenges needed addressing:

  • Provider Account Management: Previous attempts at implementing provider account management had failed, leaving no viable way for service providers to manage their presence on the site.

  • User Permissions: The site required four different types of users, each with specific permissions. The complex overlap of functions made it difficult to map out an appropriate logic flow.

  • Development to Production Workflow: Inefficient transitions between the development and production stages further complicated the project.

Given these issues, the Health District sought the expertise of Kadabra IT, known for its extensive Drupal and DevOps experience, to find a solution.
